The Whole Affiliate Thing…

I believe that this blog is the best way for me to help the Church utilize technology to better do Mission. It’s what I’d do if money were no object. But since money is an object, I need to find a way to legitimately earn my keep via this blog. The best way I’ve discovered so far is through affiliate marketing. Put simply, if you use one of the links on my blog to go to a vendor I have an agreement with, I can earn a commission of some sort. It’s different from vendor to vendor, but it’s pretty much always predicated on you actually doing something with them – it’s not AdSense where I get credit just because you clicked a link.

Of course this brings up the question of conflict of interest; am I going to recommend things based on having some agreement with them, or which vendors are most generous with commissions. And the answer is absolutely not. I’m going to evaluate products and solutions, and recommend those I believe are most beneficial to the Church; only when I’ve done this will I insert any affiliate links to the companies I might have spoken about. Note that I’m not going to have a relationship with every company I mention, so many posts will recommend a product or service I’m not making any money from.

Below is a list of the companies I have set up affiliations with. Each one of these companies I’ve either done business with or have enough reliable information about that I feel comfortable recommending them to you. If you have a negative experience, please let me know – if I hear a few about a particular vendor, they’re off the list, period. I know some may have issue with this, but I hope they understand – and I plan on constantly evaluating the situation here so that if I find a better way to earn my keep, I can take it.

Of course, if you plan on using one of these vendors, I’d certainly appreciate you using my affiliate link if you so choose!
