Saw this post on MediaSalt (a few weeks old, but I’m getting caught up on my blog reading), and I love the idea. Get the guys in your congregation together and do a Fantasy Football league! The great thing here is you have something many guys are getting into, you have the potential to get prospective members involved in something where they can really interact on “guy terms” with other men from the congregation, and it’s free! You can do other sports, too (baseball, hockey – my favorite, or even NASCAR) – just see what would have the most appeal among your guys. Do the draft live at the church, maybe have some weekly or monthly meetings to talk shop, trade, whatever, and add in a little bit of worship and you’ve got a great start to a men’s fellowship group. Guys are always hard to get together, being the macho types we are, and this is a great idea to get something started if you’re having an issue doing so. Kudos to MediaSalt!
